During her early days at Spelman College, Margery Ganz was known as “the go-away lady,” because she would encourage students to “go away” (i.e., to study abroad). In her 35 years in the field, Margie has made education abroad a “Spelman thing” and tirelessly advocated for students of color studying abroad, all while teaching and maintaining a research agenda as an Italian Renaissance historian. She was interviewed by Tom Howard at The Forum’s 12th Annual Conference in her home city of Atlanta.
