The Future Nobel Laureate Scholarship Program

Fueled by a common belief that in order to change the world you need to experience it, EF College Study and The Forum on Education Abroad have created a first-of-its-kind, high-impact student scholarship program, in collaboration with EF’s educational partner the Nobel Prize Museum. This interdisciplinary program, which combines an online project-based course, an international field study in Sweden, and attendance at the 2022 Nobel Week Dialogue, is dedicated to including students from diverse backgrounds. Future leaders from all over the world are invited to apply.

To be considered for selection, students must submit an application along with a letter of nomination from a faculty member or administrator familiar with the student’s academic work. Applicants must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in good standing at an institution of higher education, be fluent in written and spoken English, and have access to reliable internet service. Selected applicants must be available to travel to Stockholm, Sweden, from December 5-11, 2022. Students from HBCUs, Hispanic-serving institutions, first-generation families, community or technical colleges, and higher education institutions around the world are strongly encouraged to apply.

Only 10 students will be selected to attend the prestigious program, and selected attendees will be announced July 2022.


Application deadline: May 6, 2022


Selection Process

All nominations received in their entirety prior to the deadline will be read and scored by a committee of reviewers. Reviewers are faculty, administrators or professionals with extensive experience in the field of education abroad.

Nominations are rated based on:
●  Relevance of proposed project to Nobel prompt/theme and level of commitment to project implementation;
●  Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams;
●  Quality of nominator’s recommendation;

Students identified as finalists may be invited to a phone or Skype conversation to discuss their work with 1-2 members of the Global Leadership Scholarship Selection Committee prior to finalizing the list of finalists. In these conversations, students will be rated based on:

●  Ability to leverage resources provided by the program to advance own knowledge and continued involvement;
●  Evidence of interest in intercultural communication;
●  and their own description of how the experience will benefit them and their community(ies).
