The 6th edition of the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad takes a fresh look at health, safety, security, and risk management. Throughout the Standards, statements dictating minimal requirements speak to these issues and well-being. You will practice using strategies to mitigate risk and learn where to find resources to assist your efforts.
This workshop is offered as part of the Accelerated Residency for the Professional Certification in Education Program. You can attend only this workshop or attend all of the workshops offered during the Accelerated Residency by enrolling in the Professional Certification in Education Abroad Program.

About the Workshop
This interactive workshop allows you to take a deep dive into the Standards to discover how they can improve upon your organization’s practices. Using a variety of scenarios, you’ll explore how to navigate health and safety challenges and mitigate risk.
Topics covered by this workshop include:
• Well-being – what is it and how do we support it?
• Why do we care about risk management?
• What can we do to mitigate risk?
Who Should Attend This Workshop?
Education abroad administrators, faculty leaders, on-site staff and anyone responsible for students’ health, safety and well-being will benefit from participating in this workshop.
How You’ll Benefit
During this workshop, you’ll practice using strategies to mitigate risk and will gain the resources you need to assist in your risk management efforts.
Note: If you are enrolled in the Professional Certification in Education Abroad Program or you’d like to begin your Professional Certification journey, this workshop will count towards Module 4.
