Career-Integrated Global Learning Conference
October 17-19, 2022
Nhow Milan Hotel
Milan, Italy

A hub of fashion and finance, Milan has a long history of welcoming visitors, students, and professionals from throughout Italy and across the globe. The city provides the setting and inspiration for the Forum on Education Abroad’s Career-Integrated Learning (CIGL) Conference, focused on preparing future professionals through internships and career-integrated global learning. The goal of this inaugural conference is to bridge applied learning and international education around themes that help prepare students and colleagues for the changing world of work. Held at the beginning of ForumEA Week in Milan, this premier global internship event will encourage discussion and debate, incorporating insights from the host region and inspiration from participants.

With internships and career-integrated global learning among the fastest growing areas of education abroad, students have access to high impact international experiences with immersive engagement in the local community. Ranging from individual placements or industry-based projects to pre-program research or re-entry workshops to MNC site visits or NGO case studies, the opportunities to explore how current education applies to future professions are vast. And the challenges are real.

What will the world of work look like for future professionals?  Which skills and knowledge will be most applicable?  How can these be enhanced through global learning? CIGL participants can expect to explore trends, discuss big questions, share best practices, highlight resources, and connect with networks.  Innovative ideas and lingering questions are welcome!

Expected attendees include education abroad administrators, career services and work- integrated learning professionals, specialist and provider organizations, instructors, supervisors, and anyone curious about the connection between global learning and career exploration or employability outcomes.

In addition to three plenaries and internship site visit opportunities, the conference will include twenty concurrent sessions. These interactive presentations will feature over 50 speakers, and cover a wide range of topics including alumni networks, global competencies, micro-credentialing, university mission, student development, employability, global citizenship, and supervisor training.
