MenuDr. Nicole Sparling Barco is a professor of World Literature and has served as the director of the Honors Program as well as the Cultural & Global Studies Program at Central Michigan University where she teaches courses that emphasize global learning on the topics of World Literature, Literature of the Americas, African American Literature, Women and Gender Studies, and Genre. She specializes in comparative studies of North and South American cultural production and, more specifically, in the literature of the twentieth century written in English, Spanish, and Portuguese from these regions, and has spent extensive time studying and researching abroad. Dr. Barco was also appointed a Presidential Administrative Fellow to work on a project on global learning in collaboration with the Executive Director of Global Engagement, Jennifer Evanuik, and she has experience designing and leading study abroad programs.
