MenuMarcia Burrell’s interests are in investigating teaching mathematics through technology. During the, spring 2011, she co-presented a calculator workshop in Alagoas Brazil for high school level mathematics and technology teachers.
More recently, September 2014, she presented on Gatekeeping in Mathematics, in Montenegro and she continues to investigate how pre-service teachers learn how to teach math to all audiences using technology and other resources. Her work as co-director of Project SMART, a professional development program, has delivered professional development opportunities to teachers from across New York State since 2003. She has traveled to Benin West Africa with multiple groups of students through a comparative education course offered at the SUNY Oswego, and she has provided innovative experiences for students to demonstrate their understandings of their world through travel. Over the past 30 years Dr. Burrell has taught in middle and high schools and her interests continue to be in mathematics education, educational assessment and educational foundations.
