MenuJohn is an Assistant Clinical Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in worksite wellness, leadership, health coaching, entrepreneurship and sport and exercise psychology, including study abroad programs. His current research concerns the development of motivational interviewing proficiency by applied health professionals and applied sport psychology interventions. He is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), Association for Applied Sport Psychology and National Wellness Institute. Prior to joining UIC he was a faculty member from 2008-2013 for the American Academy of Family Physicians, Performance Enhancement Forum and a COO of an independent physician’s organization. His clinical training is in sport and exercise psychology and led him to consult with the American Academy of Family Physicians, Fortune 500 companies, military programs and a variety of national and Olympic sport teams in the USA and Canada. He is the recipient of the Michigan Steps Up Award, Crain’s American Dreamer and several teaching excellence awards. He is a Fellow of the Chicago Institute of Medicine and a steering committee member for the worksite wellness initiative of Building a Healthier Chicago (BHC’s). He led the evaluation team for BHC’s Healthy Worksite Designation and the Illinois Healthy Worksite Designation Award sponsored by the Illinois Department of Health and Illinois Chamber of Commerce.
