MenuIrene B. Ziegler is Program Director for Study Abroad Programs in the Division of International Education at the University of New Orleans. She has been in the Education Abroad field since 1992 and has developed, marketed, and managed various international for-credit programs, particularly in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Italy. Most recently, she has been directing one of the largest U.S. study abroad programs, the UNO-Innsbruck International Summer School, which was founded in 1976 and still enrolls approx. 250 American students every summer.
Her professional responsibilities further include student advising, international event management, programming for international visitors, and assistance in the internationalization of campus. Irene has also taught English, ESL, and German and has edited and published a number of academic articles and journals. Born and raised in Austria, she attended the University of Innsbruck, where she majored in Foreign Languages and Education. Her M.A. in English is from the University of New Orleans and her Ph.D. in American Literature from the University of Graz (Austria).
