As program officer, Emily Kane participates in curriculum development and integration activities with individual faculty and academic departments and
programs. She also works alongside CGE staff on pre-departure and re-entry programming, short-term programs, and day-to-day operations. Emily comes to CGE as a public fellow for the American Council of Learned Societies. She earned a Ph.D. in English from the University of Georgia, as well as an M.A. in English with a concentration in American studies and B.A. in English from the University of Virginia. Emily’s interest in global education has roots in a 7-week, 15-country backpacking trip throughout Europe, and it developed over time through participation in literary studies conferences in France, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, and her experience studying and working in England as a program assistant for the UGA at Oxford program.
