MenuDoug Reilly’s mission as the Programming Coordinator at the Center for Global Education has been to innovate pre-departure and re-entry programs that help
study abroad students make the most of their experiences. He has created a dual approach to pre-departure that stresses personal goal setting and skills development, and views reentry as an opportunity to reflect on the experience with an eye towards creatively articulating its meaning for the individual. He teaches Digital Storytelling and independent magazine (zine) production, edits The Aleph: a journal of global perspectives, and hosts Away Café, an “open-mic night for stories that cross borders.” Doug publishes on the field’s educational goals and methods in a variety of media, and facilitates digital storytelling workshops at institutions around the nation. Doug holds a master’s in international relations from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University, and served in the Peace Corps (Slovakia ’99-01).
