MenuChad M. Gasta has been a faculty member at Iowa State University since 2001. He teaches a wide range of courses dealing with Hispanic literature and culture. Professor Gasta’s research interests include early modern Spanish and Latin American literature and culture, transatlantic studies and cultural studies of Spain. In 2005 he was awarded the ISU Foundation Award for Early Achievement in Teaching, the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Award for Early Achievement in Teaching, and the Cassling Award for Achievement in Teaching. In 2008 he was named a Master Teacher by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Among other duties, Professor Gasta directs the ISU on the Mediterranean, Summer in Valencia, Spain program and founded and directed the Semester program in Cáceres, Spain.
