MenuDr. Barbara Gilbertson is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, and Boston University with a post-professional Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. She has held certification in hand therapy (CHT) since 1991.
Barb’s clinical practice areas have included hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, community practice, physical disabilities, and mental health. Prior to coming to St. Catherine University in 2007 she worked for Fairview Hand Center. She has taught in both the Weekend College and Day Programs. In addition to teaching a variety of courses she helps coordinate Level I Fieldwork.
Primary areas of interest for Barb are exploring the biopsychosial approach to upper extremity rehabilitation, occupational issues of immigrants, and inter-professional learning. Current areas of research include outcome measure use by occupational therapy clinicians, academic to clinical transition and cultural growth of students.
