MenuDr. Placas holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Rice University. Her dissertation, ‘‘An Ethnography of Indebtedness: The Emergence of Consumer Credit in Greece,’’ was Aimee Placas JPEGbased on research funded by the National Science Foundation. She has also been the recipient of various other fellowships and awards. She has presented and published on issues related to the anthropology of money, consumerism, kinship, gender and sexuality, civil society, and Europeanization. She is currently researching a project on Greece’s new consumer bankruptcy law in conjunction with the Greek state’s own financial crisis, and is working on turning her dissertation into a book.
