Describe how the Self-Study and Peer Review process were valuable to your organization.

The Self-Study provided us with an opportunity to examine our operations and policies through a critical lens, and gave us the chance to evaluate how our program complies with all elements of the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad. Going through the cycles of an academic year can become so routine, and this

exercise allowed us to step back and really think about what we do and why, and where there may be room for improvement. The Peer Review process was a valuable and unique opportunity for us to receive feedback from experienced colleagues in the field who brought their own knowledge and perspective to the table.

Share an example of a best practice at your organization that was recognized during your QUIP Review, or that was developed as a result of your QUIP Review.

It was very nice to receive such positive feedback about the work we’re doing, and to know we adhere to the Standards of Good Practice. Yet there was also some very constructive feedback in a few areas where we could improve. We used to have only a broad set of learning outcomes for the Schools Abroad as a whole. Our Peer Reviewers strongly recommended that a mission statement and learning goals be developed specifically for the School in France. We are finalizing those now, not only for the School in France but for each of our Schools!
