President and CEO Position Profile

The position profile was developed based on input provided through the online survey and conversations with the Board, Council, and a broadly representative group of The Forum’s membership. The profile outlines The Forum’s many strengths, lists some of the key opportunities and challenges facing the next President, and captures the experiences and qualities the committee seeks in an ideal candidate. The committee and its consultants seek to build a strong and diverse pool of candidates. Survey of Membership

Storbeck Pimentel & Associates conducted an online survey through Sunday, June 10 to collect perspectives on the priorities of the field and the qualities crucial to the new President/CEO. Feedback from the survey shaped the position profile which will guide the Search Committee’s efforts to identify and attract strong candidates to the position.


Executive Search Firm: Storbeck Pimentel & Associates

With the recommendation of the Executive Search Committee, the Forum’s Board of Directors has selected Storbeck Pimentel & Associates to lead the search for the Forum’s President and CEO. After reviewing search firm proposals, the Executive Search Committee conducted follow-up conversations and interviews with references from the top firms. Storbeck Pimentel & Associates’ proposal led in three key areas:

    • Women/Minority owned firm with strong commitment and demonstrated track record in conducting inclusive searches;
    • Strong references from several Forum member institutions;
    • Extensive background in conducting searches in our field (nonprofit leaders, college and university senior international officers, deans, provosts and presidents).

The Executive Search Committee and Board of Directors met with Storbeck Pimentel & Associates in Philadelphia during NAFSA’s 2018 Conference to formally begin the search process.


Executive Search Committee

The Forum’s Board of Directors has established a search committee to evaluate qualified candidates and provide recommendations to the Board. The Executive Search Committee will provide regular updates through The Forum website as the search for new organizational leadership progresses over the next few months. Consistent with The Forum’s bylaws, the Board of Directors will have the final decision-making authority on the selection of the new President and CEO. The following individuals have been appointed by the Board of Directors to serve on the Executive Search Committee.

  • Representing the Board of Directors – John Lucas, Chair of the Search Committee, Kerry Edmonds and Enda Carroll
  • Representing the Forum Council – Alicia Stanley
  • Representing the membership at large – Darren Gallant

Past Activities

Nominations to Serve as the Membership Representative on the Executive Search Committee

The Search Committee is currently accepting nominations through Monday, April 16, to serve as the Membership Representative on the Executive Search Committee. The requirements include:

  • Work at a Forum member institution/organization and be active in The Forum
  • A mid-career professional with 5-10 years of experience in the field of education abroad

To self-nominate to serve in this capacity, please send the following by Monday, April 16 to executivesearch@forumea.org.

  • Recommendations from two individuals at Forum member institutions or organizations other than your own
  • A personal statement outlining how you have demonstrated leadership in your current role (up to one page)

Request for Proposal (RFP) for Executive Search Firms

The Executive Search Committee invites proposals from executive search firms. The executive search firm will work with the Board of Directors, Forum Council, Forum staff, and membership to provide input into the position description for the role of President and CEO and conduct a focused search for qualified candidates.
