The partnerships formed to facilitate education abroad programs are numerous, diverse, and essential. Among the transactions of the day-to-day development and administration of these partnerships lurk ethical questions, which are more critical now than ever as COVID-19 has tested our field in a way never seen before. As we look to the future, how can we foster partnerships that maintain ethical and reciprocal business relationships, respect and support local communities, utilize financial models that are responsible and transparent, and ensure high-quality educational programming?
Living out these partnerships ethically requires continuously reflecting on best practices, applying guiding questions, and practicing ethical reasoning – especially when there is no single right answer. This Critical Dialogue seeks to create space for stakeholders to consider both the routine and the increasingly “sticky” ethical questions of our work in education abroad and discuss ways that we – and the institutions and organizations that we shape – can build just and sustainable partnerships.
To register for this Critical Dialogue, you should follow the instructions for setting up your account in the new online portal, if you haven’t done so already.
